I learned to crochet when I was just 5 years old. I was staying with my grandparents for the summer, and my grandmother taught me to crochet to keep me out of trouble and quiet. I don’t think she realized just how much I’d take to it, since my mother never cared for it. But I’ve been doing needlework ever since.
I started out using Lion Brand yarn as it was the brand carried at the local 5&10 store in the little town where my grandparents lived. These days, they have a great website, you can order their on-line newsletter, get their catalog, or download thousands of knitting and crocheting patterns. I love their website, not just for all the content, but because of the nostalgic connection to those summers long ago that I spent with my grandparents.
